Alan Pardew has today said that he will have talks with French star Yohan Cabaye over the international break to assess how best to move forward, given the player’s supposed desire to leave the club in the summer.
Pardew had this to say,
“It was important to get him out there on Saturday, it will make it easier to move on although there is a lot of talking to be done between now and Aston Villa.
“We will speak with Yohan and with his representatives to make sure that we go forward hand-in-hand.”
Personally, I think all is not what it seems with regards the Cabaye situation, and I am of the belief that Cabaye did not refuse to play, rather he was saved from suffering any injury that may prevent the club from receiving the 25m that they were reportedly demanding for his signature, of course, I could just be being cynical.
Given our lack of activity in the transfer market over summer, I think it is imperative that we keep as many top quality players we have at the club, and Cabaye certainly comes under that bracket. I hope he gets the support he needs both from his team mates, and the fans, so we can see the old Yohan Cabaye that first burst onto the scene in 2011/12 season back once more.
