Contract talks opened with “mercurial” star?

Either love him or Hatem...

Either love him or Hatem…

There has been reports this morning that Newcastle United have contacted Hatem Ben Arfa’s agent with a view to opening contract talks with the enigmatic French star. The news will undoubtedly be music to the ears of the Newcastle United fans who see the talented wing player as one of the most exciting players currently donning the famous black and white stripes.

There has been constant speculation in recent transfer windows that Liverpool’s Brendan Rodgers is a keen admirer of the former Lyon and Marseilles star, and would be very interested in taking him to Anfield to ply his trade, while there have been reports that Laurent Blanc would be keen to take him back to France as part of his new look PSG side. If Hatem Ben Arfa was to sign a new deal with the club, this would surely represent a massive coup on our part.

Hatem Ben Arfa has fallen in love with this famous club of ours, and has spoken fondly of how much support he had received from the Toon Army following his horrific double leg break back in October 2010 following a horror tackle by Nigel de Jong.

It is reported that Ben Arfa would be open to the possibility of staying, but it could cost the club as much as 80k a week with an incentive based contract, which would surely be both appearance and performance based.

I admire the ability of the hugely talented Hatem Ben Arfa, and while he may amaze and frustrate in equal measure, he showed what he can bring to the table with his wonderful winning goal at home to Fulham in our last Premier League game. If these reports are true, it is indeed very good news, Let’s hope he’ll sign on the dotted line. What do you think of Wor Hatem?

I don’t even care if you comment. I mean, whatever, I’m not bothered.

  1. I think he would be worth it. Every team can afford one maverick, extravagent player and Ben Arfa is ours. I compare him with past players like Robert & Ginola who were frustating but on their day could be genius.

  2. Truely a world class player…. ha ha only joking Ruddy.

He is the player we all want to see play well, a game changer and that element of not knowing what he will conjure up next. Even with Pardew’s attempts at stiffling the poor lad he can still turn it on at times.

Can’t help but feel it’s more a case of protecting their assets than keeping him at the club and certainly hope it’s not one of those Enrique type improved offers 😉

    1. Tads! That was a deliberate tongue in cheek inside joke, why do you think it’s in quotation marks! Haha It’s the first and last time I will be using that phrase, I just thought it would be a nice homage to Ed 😉

  3. It would be a boost if he did sign, however what concerns me is that when he was first approached about signing an extention he made sure that it would not happen this summer, if he was waiting to see what the clubs ambitions were then its goodbye Benny but thank you for the memories
