I take it back, for 90 minutes at least. I’m not going to take credit for it or anything, but it would appear that Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has been reading the NUFC Daily this week, as he has taken our advice and went for the progressive 4-3-3 that we have been calling out for.
He has opted to play Anita, Sissoko and Cabaye in the midfield trio that I thought was our strongest midfield, and he has decided to start with Loic Remy on the left of a front three with Cisse down the middle and Ben Arfa wide right.
We’re very impressed with the ambition that this indicates, and for the first time in a long time, we are looking forward to seeing how this formation works from the outset. If Pardew lets these players play in an attack minded ethos then we could get at Villa and unsettle their relatively new back four. If we sit back, then the pace and strength that Villa possess, through Benteke and Agbonglahor, will destroy us.
You’ve got the first part right Alan, picking the team, now go all out for the win because with this team, we can do it! Not only can we win, but we can win playing good football. I’m behind you for these 90 minutes Alan, you’ve got me excited! Howay the Lads! Let’s have it!
What do you think of Alan’s formation? Has he made the right decision? What, if any, changes would you have made? We’d love to hear your thoughts.
